Colonic- Why Should You Get One? Benefits, Experience, and More

So you’re thinking of getting a colonic..

WARNING: GRAPHIC

Now if you told me last year that I would be paying someone to stick a tube inside of me and watching the contents of my colon come out of my body through a little glass, I would have thought you were crazy.

But hey- All in the name of science.

“Why did you get a colonic if you don’t have any significant issues?”

Prevention, babe. It all starts within.

My curiosity about colon cleansing for gut health was inspired by hearing about the benefits of enemas.

I didn’t feel comfortable doing something like that on my own, so I thought why not see a professional.

The holistic doctor who administered mine said that people will come in that have chronic constipation, gut issues, etc, and the colonic provides amazing relief for them. It is also great to have every couple months for overall health and maintenance.

If you have the following symptoms, you may benefit from a colonic:

-Headaches

-Fatigue

-Brain fog

-Poor concentration/ memory

-Skin issues

-Sinus congestion

-Indigestion

-PMS

-Muscle/ joint pain

-Edema/swelling

-Low sex drive

-Depression

-Bad breath

-Irritability

Here are some of the benefits of colon hydrotherapy:

-Removes toxins from the body

-Boosty energy

-Improves immune system

-Better digestion

-Encourages detoxification

-Helps with weight loss

-Helps with bloating

-Can improve your skin

And so much more.

Keep in mind that this service is completely sanitary and safe. The water used is triple filtered, the machines are FDA approved, the tools are one time use, and the doctor makes you feel safe and relaxed.

I did a bunch of research before I picked which clinic to go to, as anyone should.

So what happens during your time there?

During your 75 minute appointment, the doctor asks you why you are looking to get a colonic, goes over your health history, you have the chance to ask any questions, use the bathroom, undress from the waist down, then the procedure starts.

The first step in the process is a rinse cycle- room temperature water is going in and out of your colon.

Then she leads you through a quick meditation to relax your body and nervous system.

Next, she starts to fill your colon with as much water as you can handle using the “slow fill” method. Then once you feel like your colon is full, she releases the water.

It’s a crazy sensation feeling the water build up in your body, and an even crazier feeling it release.

Here is where it gets.. interesting.

After some time, you see some of the built up waste in your body start to come out through the machine and into the sewage system. It’s wild to think that there is toxic waste just sitting inside of you.

Half way through, she does a stomach massage with some oil, helping your body with further digestion.

Then she continues with the fill method, until your time is up.

She said that normally you don’t get through the whole colon in one session, but we seemed to accomplish that in my time there.

After, you use the restroom, and meet in the front for a chlorophyll shot and some after care instructions.

Driving home I felt the most incredible energy. High on life. My insides were cleaned out, my mind was clear, and I was feeling awesome.

I got it done in the evening, and once I got home I just had some water and herbal tea. I didn’t feel hungry until the next evening and ate a very light dinner of soup, salad, and fresh juice.

For my first time, I had a very positive experience getting a colonic.
